Dust, the secret computer killer

Dust is one of the biggest reasons a computer can’t preform at its best. A computer generates a lot of heat, especially the processor. When the processor reaches a certain temperature, the computer will shut itself down. I’ve seen computers that can’t stay on for more than 30 seconds before the heat is too much. The culprit is all of the dust built up inside the computer. Dust’s number one enemy? Compressed Air. More after the jump.
Once you’ve got your compressed air with you, turn off your computer, disconnect all the cables, and open up the case. Don’t worry this is completely safe as long as you ground yourself. In other words, touch something metal to discharge your static electricity before you touch anything inside your computer. Then take your can of compressed air and start blasting away the dust. HOLD THE CAN UPRIGHT! If you don’t the chemicals that cause the can to dispel air will come out instead and can damage your components. After you take out as much dust as possible, put the case back on, reconnect all the cables and you’re done! Congrats! Now your computer will be running much cooler and faster.
